A Brief History of Kirby Muxloe Library
Originally, the Kirby Muxloe Library was a collection of books held in the Church Hall on Main Street. Then in 1973, the Parish Council approached the British Legion with a view to incorporating the War Memorial into a new library building to be called Kirby Muxloe War Memorial Library. There was some opposition to the idea, so eventually a stand-alone library building (shown below) was opened. It would eventually be replaced, on the same site, by the current library building, which was opened in 2006. This was significantly larger and had better facilities.
