“Following the announcement of the move to Plan B, libraries will now come under the group of buildings that require face masks to be worn by customers from today (Friday 10th December) except for those who are exempt.”
Did you know that your empty crisp packets can help others?
NOTE: This scheme is closing down on 1st February.
There is a charity called Adapt and their web site is at prembabies.co.uk
If you can bring ANY crisp packets to the library then Walkers Crisps will collect them, recycle them and also contribute to Adapt for every packet.
Walkers do not mind what brand of crisp packet you bring to us, they accept them all.
Adapt, like any and all charities, need every penny they can get to do their work.
You get to eat the crisps, the packet gets recycled and a family gets helped. Win-win-win.
So please do save those packets and drop them in to the Library. Thank you.
Like a quiz? Well come to the Library and pick up our fun Christmas Quiz to do with your family and friends over the festive season.
It only costs £1 and is full of general knowledge questions, anagrams and sneakily hidden answers – but its a quiz for all the family – even the little ones could help you.
If you wish you can return your answered quiz to the Library by January 11th and you might be in the running for a £10 book token prize plus the glory, of course!
All proceeds will go the KM Library and Community Hub.
Thank you for your support – and Good Luck!
As usual, you can find the current times here: Opening Times – Kirby Muxloe Library
Do you have skills in general maintenance/DIY?
Do you have a few hours to spare here and there?
If so – we need you!
Our Library is maintained by ourselves, doing all the routine odd jobs needed such as repairing window latches, hanging pictures, putting up and taking down Christmas decorations and lights, and so on. We would like a little help with this – so –
If you have an hour or two to spare a week, we would love to hear from you.
The good news? Friendship, a lot of laughs and a sense that you are contributing to the welfare of our community.
The bad news? It’s a voluntary position, therefore unpaid.
If you are interested, contact secretary@kirbymuxloelibrary.org
We look forward to hearing from you.
As part of our commitment to providing facilities and support for our community, we have been concerned about the difficulties that our young people have experienced with their education and learning over the last two years.
We would like to support Kirby Muxloe students by providing revision opportunities for GCSE and A Level student coming up to their exams. This would be in the week before and the week after Easter, based in the Library Community Room for no more than 10 students at any one time. The tuition is planned to be strictly student-centred, with students raising what they themselves want help with – definitely not a series of lectures.
We need tutors across the range of science and humanities subjects at both GCSE and A level. This would be on a voluntary work basis and is in recognition of the unique difficulties that these young people have experienced.
If you are perhaps a retired teacher/tutor who has experience in these subjects and would be willing to give time voluntarily towards this cause, please contact secretary@kirbymuxloelibrary.org
THANK YOU!
